Are you or somebody you know looking after somebody else’s child?
Are you under 18 and living with someone other than your parents or a close relative?*
If the answer to either of those questions is yes, you could be missing out on support.
Private fostering is when a child under 16 years of age (18 if disabled) is cared for by someone who is not their parent or a close relative. It’s an arrangement made between a parent and a carer which lasts for 28 days or more.
It is a legal requirement to notify Children’s Services if you or someone you know is looking after a young person which has been arranged privately.
